NOW HIRING: PART TIME INSTRUCTOR

NECS is seeking motivated individuals to teach chess in local schools, boys’ and girls’ clubs, and other educational settings, for up to ten hours per week. Make a difference in the lives of kids, while teaching a game you enjoy! This is a great opportunity for students or anyone with free time in the afternoons.

NECS is an educational organization located in Metro Boston. We have two locations in Greater Boston, the Newton branch and the Lexington branch. At the moment we’re also offering online classes for everyone in the EST time zone. Please note that basic computer skills are required for any applicant who wishes to lead online classes. The knowledge of LiChess, ChessBase, and/or other chess-related software would be a plus.

The mission of the NECS is to maintain a formal program of instruction to teach the game of chess and to promote and support its educational program through community outreach and local and national partnerships, in an effort to increase the awareness of the educational value of chess. We frequently host USCF-rated tournaments and other chess-related activities to help students develop a competitive spirit and test their skills while playing against a partner they aren’t familiar with.
